What a purchase does

  1. Successful payment creates or updates a license record in the backend.
  2. License key is tied to purchaser email and plan tier.
  3. Desktop activation checks plan/status and machine activation limits.
  4. Account portal shows license status and activation usage.
  5. Refund webhook revokes active licenses automatically.

Developer clarity

The backend endpoint /v1/billing/checkout-status exposes plan metadata and whether Stripe webhook keys are configured. The UI keeps checkout honest: buttons are disabled unless real checkout URLs are configured.
